Origins
It all started as a moment, when founder, Olympic Medalist and mother of 3, Alysia Montaño, was penalized by her sponsors for choosing motherhood.
On Mother’s Day 2019, Alysia published her story in the viral New York Times op-ed: Nike Told Me to dream Crazy, Until I Wanted a Baby. It sparked the #DreamMaternity movement as women from around the world, in sports and beyond, shared how Alysia’s message hit close to home.
Their stories catalyzed the impact non-profit known as &Mother, founded on Mother’s Day 2020. The work of &Mother put power in the hands of female athletes to petition for the support they need to thrive in pursuit of their ambitions and motherhood.
Today, rebranded as For All Mothers+, we have evolved into a mobilization for all mothers by integrating research-backed, family-first, industry-wide standards in sports that can serve as a template for other industries to adopt to fulfill our vision for mothers in society.
